macef-milano-design-award-2008-dining-in-2015-contest.gif It’s not often I find myself writing about an inventor’s contest in my food blog.

But, it’s not often I stumble upon a burger cooked by your tailpipe. Or levitating salt and pepper shakers either.

These, and 8 other clever items, make up the top 10 entries in the "Dining in 2015" contest hosted by designboom.

Dining In 2015

The judges were looking for the most interesting designs in:

  • cutlery

  • tableware

  • cookware

  • cooking tools

According to InventorSpot, more than 4,000 designers from 98 countries participated!

The entries range from:

…the useful — cutlery in your wallet from Italian Alberto Ghiradello.

bubble-wrap-china.jpg…to the visually intriguing — crystal "china" that looks as if it was made of bubble wrap dreamed up by a group of Americans.

…to the goofy –the Iranian-designed contraption that attaches to your car’s exhaust pipe to cook a hamburger patty.

Now I don’t know if in 2015 I’ll be pulling a fork out of my wallet to eat an exhaust burger on bubble-wrap china, but I know we’re going to have some amazing innovations between now and then.

I’m just hoping that exhaust burger thing comes-and-goes quickly.
