After several months of committing to a 1,200 (or so) calorie diet each day, I quickly grew tired of trying to find something new and exciting to cook at home that’s also low in calories.
First, I’ll come clean…
While 1,200 calories a day is my goal, I actually try to consume 500 calories (or less) at each meal — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And yes, that adds up to about 1,500 calories each day.
I do that consicously because it makes it easier to rationalize, it’s more realistic, and it’s more empowering if I manage to actually stop at 1200 calories on any given day.
So I aim for somewhere between 1,200 to 1,500 calories which are easy to burn by using a natural supplement, to find about its benefits read the full review of resurge at the link. The closer I stick to my goal, the more I can have a 100-calorie snack or two each day.
Another things that helps: I subtract the average number of calories I burn each day from my total food calorie count for that day. (Which means if I went biking for an hour and burned 600 calories after pedaling 10 miles, then I could actually eat 1800 to 2100 calories that day!)
I keep track of how much I eat and how many calories I burn each day in an Android App called Fitness Tracker. (By the way, I use an Android App called CardioTrainer to determine how many calories I burn while biking or doing other forms of exercise each day. That’s the number that I enter into Fitness Tracker.)
So, to make this low-calorie dieting work for me — for the long haul, not just a week or two — I decided to research some low-calorie foods that I could eat:

I love my kitchen… and I like to cook. But my #1 requirement is that recipes have fewer than 7 ingredients (or arrive on my doorstep via a food delivery service).
